DIMENSIONS:Job Summary: High level responsibilities include
engineering application solutions based on gathered product
requirements and collaborating with sales/engineering to program
electronic controllers per requirements, design/build electrical
panels & valve componentry, and support the startup/commissioning
of equipment.Reports to: Technical Sales ManagerExamples of Duties
and Responsibilities:
- Work within the Technical Sales Engineering team to support all
Cla-Val Specialty products.
- Review customer specifications of electronic valve applications
and collaborate with sales & engineering to clarify requirements as
needed.
- Provide significant input to R&D new engineering products
and e-Line product improvements and assist with development when
required.
- Program the valve controllers using Cla-Val's proprietary
computer language.
- Design/modify an electrical panel that houses the controller
and supporting electronic equipment when required.
- Assist with manufacturing/inspection of electrical panels when
required.
- Create/modify wiring diagrams for electricians installing the
equipment when required.
- Support and maintenance of technical software such as
cavitation, valve sizing analysis, valve performance analysis, and
valve asset management.
- Participate in domestic and/or international trade shows.
- Make technical presentations at engineering seminars or service
training schools.
- Create marketing material including technical manuals,
operating instructions, how-to videos, etc.
- Provide startup assistance to field sales personnel,
particularly on electronic products either directly or over the
phone.
- Communicate with/assist Engineering Department, specifically
Eng. Mgr., Asst. Eng. Mgr., and Design Eng., regarding special
products support and development.
- May handle performance evaluations for direct reports, as
applicable.
- Regular punctuality, attendance, and absence reporting in
conformance with company policies is essential to the successful
performance of this position.
- Fully comply with company rules, policies, procedures, and
safety guidelines to ensure safe and effective
operations.QUALIFICATIONS GUIDELINES:Any combination equivalent of,
but not limited to, the following:
- Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or
related engineering field; thorough experience in field sales,
engineering, and service principles and practices; and considerable
experience in technical sales, training, and presentation of
products and systems applications.Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Considerable knowledge of hydraulic control valve operation
methods and procedures.
- Considerable knowledge of water distribution operating systems,
including pumps, valves, tanks, piping, fittings, and related
components.
- Considerable knowledge of valve applications, installation,
operation troubleshooting, and maintenance procedures.
- Knowledge of basic manufacturing methods and product field
applications.
- Able to explain operation methods and product field
applications to customer representatives, engineering personnel,
water district supervisors, and sales personnel both verbally and
in writing.
- Able to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with
other department representatives.
- Able to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings,
schematics, and project specifications.
- Able to structure and organize training programs to meet
established goals.
- Able to travel domestically and internationally, as needed, to
perform training and/or sales presentations or startups.
- Knowledge of company sales practices and operating
procedures.Physical Requirements:
- Ability to climb to different work site locations to
demonstrate equipment applications, evaluate systems operations,
and troubleshoot the causes of major problems.
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
- Ability to perform essential functions of the job, as
defined.
